1. Data Collection and Usage

The Transcriber extension collects and processes data only to provide its core functionality: transcribing YouTube videos and audio files.

• Transcripts: Transcripts extracted from YouTube or generated from audio files are stored locally in your browser's chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly send it to an AI service (ChatGPT, Gemini, or Copilot).
• Authentication Cookies: The extension uses cookies to facilitate communication with AI services (ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot) when you use the "Auto-Submit" feature. These cookies are only used to ensure you are logged into those services.
• Storage: We use unlimitedStorage and storage permissions to save your transcription history and custom prompt templates on your device.

2. Third-Party Services

When you use the AI features or the audio transcription feature, data may be shared with the following third parties:

• AI Providers: If you choose to summarize a transcript, the text content is sent to either OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini), or Microsoft (Copilot) based on your selection. This is handled via standard web navigation or API calls.
• AssemblyAI: If you use the audio file transcription feature, the audio file is sent to AssemblyAI for processing. Please refer to AssemblyAI's privacy policy for how they handle audio data.

3. Data Protection

We do not have a central server. Your data (history, settings, and templates) is stored locally on your own computer. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others.

We may update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the top of this page. We encourage you to frequently check this page for any changes.
